Do you only have time to read a few of them? It might be a hard choice!

Below is the list of the new book releases and I’ve also included brief summaries of each book after that to help you decide.

New Historical Fiction Books March 2021

  • Wild Women and the Blues
  • Sunflower Sisters
  • The Rose Code
  • The Final Revival of Opal & Nev
  • The Lost Apothecary

Wild Women and the Blues by Denny S. Bryce
Historical Fiction | Book set in Chicago
Publication Date: March 30, 2021

Wild Women and the Blues book summary – A Goodreads Debut Novel To Discover. Jazz-age Chicago comes alive in this vibrant novel containing two stories intertwined almost a hundred years apart. A chorus girl and a film student experience joy, sadness, and imperfection while dealing with loss, forgiveness, and love. | Amazon

Sunflower Sisters by Martha Hall Kelly
Historical Fiction | Book set in Eastern & Southern U.S.
Publication Date: March 30, 2021

Sunflower Sisters book summary – For fans of Martha Hall Kelly’s previous best-selling book Lilac Girls, this is book #3 in that series after Lilac Girls and Lost Roses. The author takes us back to a different time period in each book in this series starting with Lilac Girls in the WWII period, then Lost Roses a generation earlier, and finally Sunflower Sisters goes back to Civil War ancestors. | Amazon

The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
Historical Fiction | Book set in England
Publication Date: March 9th, 2021

The Rose Code book summary Kate Quinn returns with what promises to be another heart-stopping story of WWII and three female codebreakers at Bletchley Park and a spy that must be rooted out. I personally find the subject of Bletchley Park enormously mysterious and interesting and am eagerly awaiting this book. | Amazon

The Final Revival of Opal & Nev by Dawnie Walton
Historical Fiction | Book set in New York
Publication Date: March 30, 2021

The Final Revival of Opal & Nev book summary – It somehow doesn’t seem like a book set in the 1970s would be considered historical fiction! Where or where does time fly? This book, a fictional oral history of the beloved rock ‘n’ roll duo who shot to fame in 1970s New York and the dark, fraught secret that lies at the peak of their stardom. While I usually find myself drawn to earlier historical periods than the 1970s when I read historical fiction, any book with words like “dark, fraught secret” in the description seems to hook me immediately. | Amazon

The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner
Historical Fiction | Book set in London
Publication Date: March 2, 2021

The Lost Apothecary book summary – Named a Most Anticipated book of 2021 by Newsweek, Good Housekeeping, Hello! magazine, Oprah.com, Bustle, PopSugar, Sweet July, and Goodreads, I can’t wait to dig into this one! Set in eighteenth-century London a secret apothecary shop caters to an unusual clientele. Also set in present-day London where an aspiring historian stumbles upon a clue to a 200-year-old unsolved murder mystery. This book promises to have it all – suspense, secrets, vengeance, and unforgettable characters. | Amazon
