Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover is a compelling novel that yet again cements her status as a bestselling author. This book, much like Hoover’s previous works, proves her ability to evoke profound emotions and create stories that linger in readers’ hearts.
I must admit that I had rather high expectations of Reminders of Him, having been previously swept away by the emotional journeys of It Ends With Us and It Starts With Us. I wasn’t at all sure this book could stand up to those. However, this novel surpassed even my lofty anticipations.

Review Of Reminders Of Him by Colleen Hoover
This is the fourth Colleen Hoover book I’ve read in the past little while, and coming off of not only It Ends With Us, and It Starts With Us, but also Verity – well, I wasn’t sure if she could write another winner (for me)!
So, here’s what I think about the book.
Reminders Of Him – What I Liked
Hoover’s gift for creating compelling characters is on full display in this book. As a dedicated romance enthusiast, I found myself falling right into this story. In my opinion, the novel’s strength lies in its protagonist, Kenna Rowen, a beacon of resilience and strength in the face of adversity.
Kenna’s journey, marked by heartbreak and hardship, resonates powerfully. From her tumultuous relationship with her boyfriend Scotty to her time in prison and the longing to connect with her daughter, every aspect of Kenna’s life is portrayed with a depth that tugs at the heartstrings. Her determination to see her daughter, despite overwhelming odds, showcases a remarkable depth of character.
The introduction of Ledger, Scotty’s former best friend, adds an intriguing layer of conflict and emotion. The complexity of Ledger’s emotions, torn between an undeniable connection with Kenna and the weight of betrayal, is portrayed with skill and authenticity. The relationships between characters, particularly Ledger’s bond with Kenna’s daughter, evoke genuine emotions and contribute to the story’s depth.
What really stood out for me in this book was Hoover’s adept use of Kenna’s letters to Scotty. These letters provide insight into Kenna’s inner world, her journey toward self-forgiveness, and her growth as a character. They serve as poignant reminders of the past while seamlessly contributing to the narrative’s progression.
Reminders Of Him – What I Disliked
I thought the development of the relationship between Kenna and Ledger was too fast.
And, while I won’t give you any spoilers here, I did think the ending was a little abrupt. But not to the point of spoiling the book for me.

I wasn’t sure if she could do it, but Colleen Hoover has definitely written another winner! If you’ve been a CoHo fan in the past, you’ll want to read Reminders Of Him – I think you’ll enjoy it.
If you haven’t yet read any CoHo books, well, you need to start somewhere and Reminders Of Him would be a great start if you want something with a little romance. If you’re looking for a thriller, don’t miss Verity!
