Here’s What I’m Currently Reading

What I Read In December 2023
So here is my December reading list that I closed out 2023 with.
Some highly anticipated stuff here for me! First, Inheritance is the first book in a new Nora Roberts trilogy. Loved it!
Next came Barbara Taylor Bradford. It may seem strange that I read three BTB books right in order this month, but the truth is that the third book – The Wonder Of It All – was the 3rd book in the House Of Falconer series and I wanted to read the first two in the series again to revisit everything that happened earlier in the series. I’m glad I did that because it made the last book much more enjoyable for me.
Lastly, I also read three Tricia O’Malley books one right after the other. This is the Enchanted Highlands series which is relatively new. I saved books #1 and #2 specifically so that I could read all three together and most importantly so that I could read the 3rd – A Kilt For Christmas – at Christmastime!
I can’t think of any books I would rather have curled up with around the holidays than these books in the Enchanted Highlands series.
What I Read In November 2023
And I had one DNF for September, much to my dismay 🙂 That was This Is How We End Things by R.J. Jacobs.
What I Read In October 2023
In addition, there were two DNF books for me this month. I’m not sure what the problem was with these. I really dislike it when I DNF a book. Gill Paul was a new author for me, but I have read Julia Kelly before with no problem!
- A Traitor In Whitehall by Julia Kelly
- A Beautiful Rival by Gill Paul.
What I Read In September 2023
And I had one DNF (unfortunately) and that was The Villa by Rachel Hawkins. I always hate to admit when I DNF a book!
What I Read In August 2023
Whew! August was a pretty big reading month for me. I’m not sure how I managed to get all of these books in. This month’s books were an eclectic mix of genres. I really bounced from one thing to another. And I doubled up on two different authors – 2 books from each which I do occasionally.
Summer is winding down here – and I have to admit I’m glad. Too much warm weather is just not for me. I’m looking forward to crisp autumn days.
The Three Lives Of Alix St. Pierre by Natasha Lester
Going Home by Danielle Steel
This was a reread for me. This is Danielle Steel’s first novel! I thought it would be interesting to go back and read it again after so many years.
The Sweetness Of Forgetting by Kristin Harmel
Verity by Colleen Hoover
Happiness by Danielle Steel
The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley
Murder At An Irish Castle by Ellie Brannigan
The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley
What I Read In July 2023
Summer has been pretty nice so far. But by the end of July, I’m always ready for the first frost LOL! I don’t love hot weather, so I’m eagerly awaiting autumn.
Here’s what I managed to read during July. This was a real treat for me because this month included books by several of my favorite authors.
The Beach At Summerly by Beatriz Williams
The 9th Man by Steve Berry
Palazzo by Danielle Steel
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover
The Last Heir To Blackwood Library by Hester Fox
The Collector by Daniel Silva
We’re fortunate enough to have a brand new book in the Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva every July. This is the one that was just published. I finished it in several days and I can’t believe I now have to wait another whole year for the next one.
I already miss these characters terribly!
What I Read In June 2023
We’re settling in for the long haul of summer here in Wisconsin.
In all honesty, summer is not my favorite season. I know, I know….many of you are gasping after reading that comment.
The truth is, I’m not a fan of hot and humid weather and well, that’s what we get here sometimes in the summer. June has been quite beautiful so far, though. Today is the summer solstice though and it’s all down (summer) hill from here.
OK, here are the books that I managed to read in June.
Identity by Nora Roberts
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one. As is the case with any new Nora book. Thankfully, she didn’t let me down, especially coming off the last book in the Dragon Heart Trilogy last year.
The Echo Of Old Books by Barbara Davis
This one was a keeper! I reviewed it recently so you can see what I thought.
The Chateau by Jaclyn Goldis
I was in the mood for a thriller this month, so I slotted this one into the mix.
I just finished this French countryside thriller, and wow, it had several twists and a shocking ending.
The Wedding Planner by Danielle Steel
You can’t go wrong with this one if you love a beautiful wedding as much as I do.
I feel like I’m reading a new Danielle book almost every other month or so. The lady sure does write fast!
Beyond That, the Sea by Laura Spence-Ash
I have no idea what to expect with this one. This is a new author for me. So we’ll see.
So far, that’s all I think I’ll get through this month, and then it’s on to July.
What I Read In May 2023
I’m just back from my winter abroad. For those of you who don’t know, I spend the winter in Spain (usually) and the surrounding areas, unless it’s decided that we’re going off the rails. Then it might be Italy, France, or who knows where. So I’m getting back in the swing of things here at home after returning from across the pond, and that’s not always easy. Home is Wisconsin. For now!
These are the books I read in May.
Twenty Years Later by Charlie Donlea
This one is a thriller and was on my TBR for quite a while. I’m glad I finally got to it. I was in the mood for a good thriller and this one was fast-paced and I liked it.
Worthy Opponents by Danielle Steel
I must admit to you that any new Danielle Steel books are just automatically on my list to read. I don’t even bother to read the synopsis before I decide. What can I say?
I reviewed “Worthy” last month too, so you can check that out.
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
I’m embarrassed to admit that this was that book that you don’t want to read but you read it because you have to for some reason. Do you know what I mean? My book club chose to read about the octopus though, so I had to go with it.
I can’t believe I almost missed out on this book!
Fifth Avenue Glamour Girl by Renee Rosen
I absolutely adored this book. If you like historical fiction with a little touch of glamourish makeup a la Esteé Lauder, you need to read this book!
The Last Kingdom by Steve Berry
This is the latest Steve Berry book and, oh!
The Bride Wore White by Amanda Quick
This is the 7th book in a fun series written by Jayne Ann Krentz under her pseudonym Amanda Quick.
